A Metaphor of Intensity

Mona Moleo celebrates the tension between subjective experience and universal patterns.

The artist consistently presents pairs of images that complement each other. “Painting just one picture is too boring for me. When I’m in the flow, I have to engage my brain in two ways,” explains the self-taught artist, who contrasts emotional resonance with mathematical precision.
“My paintings serve self-reflection, self-hypnosis. Recently, someone at the exhibition told me that they had just seen their whole life in one of my paintings. I found that idea very beautiful.”

On one side stands the abstract, the unrestrained, the intuitive, the chaotic, the free, the flowing; on the other, the meticulously calculated, the structured, the ordered, the formal, the limited. This contrast emphasizes the ambivalent nature of human emotions.
“I could be sitting in a basement in Romania or on Mallorca, it wouldn’t make any difference to me. What matters far more are my thoughts, the inner reflection. I spend a lot of time thinking about current events, about philosophy. I find that fascinating.”
The artist prepares for her work with meditation, connects with the universe, grounds herself, and allows herself to be guided. Through a technique she developed herself, the colors seem to flow directly into the viewer’s inner world. The environment in which she paints plays no role at all. She finds her inspiration within herself.

Bridging the gap between abstract worlds and existential insight.
